False Grip Ready ✔
If you want to incorporate rings into your training (and why wouldn't you 😜) and plan to do more than Row and Pull-Up with them, the false grip is something you'll need to get accustomed to..
To get into it, wedge the edge of the ring nice and deep into the space between the thumb and index finger. Attempt to close your grip, extending your arms into a hanging position while maintaining a bent wrist and closed grip as pictured - the inside of the ring should be resting on the soft bottom of the palm of your hand 🙌
Essentially you want to be able to hang with straight arms, pull yourself up and pull yourself over while maintaining the false grip position, but you may struggle to form a tight grip or fully extend the arms at first. To begin with try false grip rows, false grip hangs with your feet supported...anything that helps you build the wrist strength, confidence and mobility required.
Go easy but stick with it, no matter how weird and unnatural it feels (probably because it is 😂)
This week's #weeklychallenge is a bit different... it's all about CONTROL.
How SLOW can you go down the rope?
Time starts when you're up the top and your feet are off the rope, then you need to make your way down the rope as SLOW as you can. Test your grip strength with this one guys!
Time ends when your feet hit the floor, so as long as you can hold on without dropping, that timer still runs!
Good luck with this one, and don't forget to #itrainatSAbasecamp any photos or videos!
😒 Struggle bus much? 295 lbs feeling heavier than it should. I can tell that the inconsistency in my workouts for the past month has done a number on my grip. Boo. Hopefully next week isn't so shitty. Granted, my Saturday morning workouts are pretty consistently the worst of the week. See anything wrong @sumolifts?
I'm glad that I had an unexpected night off from work last night. It allowed me to hang out with my OCR family and get some good training in as well. What a humbling experience. After watching people scale up these walls quickly and efficiently, this is one obstacle that kicked my ass. I've been on the podium my last two races. Although those races played to my strength in running and did not test my grip. They are not all that easy. It looks like it's time to get a third gym membership. #gripstrength#griptraining#mygripstrengthsucks#ocr#ocrlife#bouldering#rockclimbing#spartanrace#spartantraining#determined
Not keen on treadmills. The weight is not much at all (120 kg / 264 lbs), but one has to start somewhere. Hoping to improve my time, up the weight, and not take a geological age to turn around as I get fitter. #strongmancardio#strengthtraining#griptraining
Back with another rare bench video. Not feeling the strongest, but 90% 1RM wasn't too bad. Narrow grip (swipe) actually felt pretty easy, which makes me wonder if I was actually fully activating my triceps. Also, my arms are less sausage-y 😂 (swipe again 😊)! Happy flex Friday! 💪🏿
