Happy Sabbath, friends!
Sharing with you one of my favourite photos thus far! I spotted this male red robin during one of my nature walks, and he was a natural! As other birds were scared off by a strange human, this little guy stood on the same twig, unbothered, for good amount of time that I was able to snap some shots.
When I was taking some photos, I was immediately reminded of Matthew 10:29-31 (Are not two sparrows sold for a copper coin? And not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows.) I love that it tells us that yes, sparrows do in fact fall, but none of them fall apart from the will of God. Truly, God’s love and care extends even to the littlest of creatures but how much more to me and to you who He poured out all of Heaven in the gift of Jesus for.
It’s such a beautiful and powerful rebuke for me and my unbelief and unfaithfulness. Looking back, I cannot think of a moment when the Lord has not been gracious or faithful to me yet I constantly still find myself suffering from episodes of worry and fear of the unknown. But friends, how beautiful is it that God in His love is so faithful and patient with us?
Genuinely, I aspire to be like this red robin sitting on the twig so calmly even with an approaching stranger knowing well "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty” (Psalm 91:1). You and I can rest in peacefully that though the world may be filled with sorrow and sin, there is safety and joy in abiding in God.
Here's to the weekend and getting outside to explore. Port Fairy – what a beautiful part of Victoria! 📷: Floyd Mallon
