'Keeping track of progress'
How do you keep track of your clients progress? Obviously a multifactorial question depending on the needs analysis. That said the majority of my clients are either fat loss/weight loss or strength and size.
If you are not continuously assessing the client throughout their training journey, how do you know what to add and what to take away?
As Dan John says 'everything works but only for a matter of time before we adapt. Then where to?
In the picture and video are two tools I use personally to track two important factors for fat loss:
1). Work rate
2). Before and afters
1). Work rate - I use @myzonemoves to track my effort during my training. This allows me to back off when I'm over stressing the system. With clients I use this tool with it's usually the other way around 😂
2). Before and afters - there are many scientific gadgets out there that tell you your body composition. For me it's simple - before and afters.

We are big on squatting. Great for legs, glutes and core.
Head PT James comfortably squatting 160kg x 5 reps only 12 months after rupturing a hamstring.
A few inches short of depth to maintain hip control but he is 6"5 and apparently an old man 😉

This sound familiar?.... It's Wednesday evening and you've been literally spot on 👌🏼 with your nutrition.
Every calorie accounted for, everything that has passed your lips has been nutritious and "healthy". You feel awesome, you're still wondering where your abs are (after all it has been 3 days of you eating well) but you'll give it a little while longer before having a complete meltdown about that.
You get home from work and your other half has gotten some lovely dessert in for you, as a treat. What a darling!
You shiver at the sheer power that hot chocolate fudge brownie has over you.
Rather than eating the brownie and accepting going over your calories a little bit for the day.... YOU GO FULL BRITNEY! "F*** IT!" "That's the week ruined! Hand me those 4 cream eggs I bought for my Nan for Easter and with that bring in a bottle of red wine too!" What transpires is a calorie, self hatred and self pity fuelled few days in which you have completely scuppered any hope of achieving any kind of weight or fat loss for the week.
But that's ok, Monday will come back around won't it, yes it will, but so will Wednesday (your Britney day!) THIS MENTALITY NEEDS TO STOP.
If you walked out to find your car had a flat tyre, you wouldn't march back into the house, find your biggest kitchen knife and slash the remaining three, would you!? Little slip ups are fine, accept it, move on and go again. That's it.
If you're completely cutting foods out and can't deal with it, then you need to find ways of factoring them in.
Use your brain. Exercise some logic 😊 (How I linked Britney, chocolate fudge brownies and your nans Easter eggs together there I don't know, made sense in my head anyway🤔) Have a good day people! ⚫🔵LP Strength Academy 🔵⚫
