Absolutely aching from last night and Monday night sessions. Tommorow is a gruelling Deadlift, Hamstring & Conditioning session, really looking forward to it. So today its important to eat and rest up.
Unfortunately alot of gym users tend to knock rest day and laugh it off but what these plebs don't realise is that muscles are only broken down in the gym. They need to remember muscles grow and repair (i.e. get bigger and stronger) when you rest and provide your body with the right food/fuel it needs.
Not giving your the body sufficient rest it needs is counterproductive and detrimental to your gains/goals especially if your training for size/strength but most importantly it's detrimental to your health! You run the risk of overtraining (and injury) and can end up running yourself and your immune system into the ground! You become more stressed which in turn puts your body in a catabolic state. Not Good!
Now don't get me wrong don't be taking the piss and have more days offs than you workout as that's just as counterproductive and down right lazy fs! Lol
At the minute I find training no more than 4 days a week is optimal for me and my body is responding very well. Everyone is different so find what works best for you.
I don't need to tell you this but Im the type of person that truely believes Its all or nothing in the gym, 110%, You either Train hard or not at all. With that being said I make sure I make every session count and earn my rest days. So that I go into the next session ready to kill it and not feeling exhausted. At the minute I train 2 days on, 1 day off, 2 days on, 2 days off. And it's fucking awesome. I'm really enjoying training at the minute.
Happy Hump Day Folks!
